PERTH TRAINING PACKAGES

1 Week Phlebotomy Training:
DATES FOR 5 DAYS TRAINING
6th to the 10th of February 2025 ( Fully booked)
28th of April to the 2nd of May 2025 ( 7 places left for booking )

Our Perth, W.A training is conducted in our training rooms at head office, located in Wangara.
Unit 29/9 Vision Street Wangara, Perth
The training involves:
Face-To-Face training
35 hours of clinical work placement, 6 months to complete (students who show competency in unit HLTPAT002 Perform venous blood collection)
UNITS OF COMPETENCY:
HLTPAT004: Collect Specimens other than Blood
BSBMED301 Interpret and Apply Medical terminology appropriately
HLTPAT002 Perform Venous Blood Collections
The training is conducted over 5 days, face to face training and is held in our Wangara Training room which is a warm and friendly environment providing students with up to date theory and practical in Pathology Specimen Collection, theory and practical in Venepuncture, and the Medical Terminology for the Pathology techniques and procedures. Experienced tutor/s work hard with each student in small face-to-face learning environments ensuring that our students receive the most out of their training as possible.
Students who show competency in the unit HLTPAT002 Perform venous blood collection, are offered the chance to complete their 35-work placement/logbook hours with our clinic and health industry contacts. Students are to be aware that they must make themselves available for this time to complete 35 hrs. work placement, this is the requirement for the venous blood collection only. Students are given six months to complete this.
Students receive constant guidance and supervision throughout their training, and receive all materials needed to complete each task throughout the training session.
The units included in our five day training are all nationally recognised units of competencies.
First morning of the training: doors will open at 8:45 am for a 9:00 am start, and an estimated finishing time is 3:30 pm.
Second, Third, Four and Fifth morning's of training: doors will be open at 9:00 am for a immediate start, and an estimated finishing time is 3:30 pm.
Over the five days students will be assessed on:
Theory and Practical : for all three units
Role Play, Demo, and Oral
Work Placement: To Gain the Statement of Attainment for HLTPAT002 perform venous blood collection: Work placement /logbook hours to be completed.
Students who show competency in the unit HLTPAT002 perform venous blood collections within the five days of training, are offered, the chance to complete their 35-work placement with our clinic and health industry contacts. This is generally completed over 2 weeks: Monday - Thursday 8 am - 12:30 pm ( Please note that although we endeavour to schedule work placements to begin as soon as the training has finished, timing is dependent on the availability of positions in our clinic, and with our industry partners, and work placement may be delayed in some cases, resulting in the duration of the time frame to complete being extended: extension due to timing is authorised by WASP. Students may be required on additional days to conduct extra bleeds etc. Students will receive 6 months to complete the work placement stage.
Students who show competency in unit HLTPAT002 perform venous blood collections will receive their log booklet:
Correct information must be recorded for evidence on completion, this is part of HLTPAT002 perform venous blood collections assessment/s conducted within work placement for the Blood Collection Unit.
A person who supervises the logbook must be able to perform venous blood collections and work no less than 18 hrs per fortnight.

Work Placement: Simulation WASP Clinic: HLTPAT004 Collect Specimens other than Blood
As skills may not be demonstrated in the collection clinics/workplace: Perth students will perform a simulation assessment in the WASP blood collection clinic showing collected evidence on specimen collection skills.

The training involves:
Face-To-Face training
Students to then complete 35 hours of clinical work placement, 6 months to complete (students who show competency in unit HLTPAT002 perform venous blood )
Student must have medical background for this training and have the means to start using skills to complete the logbook.

The training is conducted usually over 2 days during the week (days may vary for each session booked) with face to face training and is held in our Wangara Training Rooms.
Our training rooms are a warm and friendly environment providing students with up to date theory and practical in Pathology Specimen Collection, theory and practical in Venepuncture, and the Medical Terminology for the Pathology techniques and procedures. Students in Perth, who show competency in the unit HLTPAT002 perform venous blood collections must complete their 35-work placement/logbook, students are given six months to organise and complete this.

Work Placement: To Gain the Statement of Attainment for HLTPAT002 perform venous blood collections Work placement to be completed, student/s who show competency with their skills for unit HLTPAT002 perform venous blood collections will receive their log booklet. Student who partake in the 2 days training upon completion must have the means to be able to go on and start using the skills in a position they hold or will be entering to complete their logbook.
A person who supervises the logbook, must be able to perform venous blood collections and work no less than 18 hrs per fortnight. This will be explained in detail at hand over of the logbook, and will be clearly noted in the logbook.

DECLARATION FORMS:
Please be aware that students will have to fill out a declaration on the first morning of the training. The declaration is to safeguard all students and staff. W.A School of Pathology has a duty of care to provide a safe workplace/training environment according to W.H.S (Work Health and Safety). Please note that this form is a private declaration and will ask about any long term medical conditions.(this can include any blood born viruses) Declaring a long term medical condition will not prevent participation in the training, however the training may need to be adapted to best support your condition. Should there be any concerns please call to speak to a staff member, this conversation is private and confidential.

As part of the enrolment process, each student will receive a LEARNER NEEDS ANALYSIS: Industry Knowledge, and personal skills forms. These forms are completed by each student prior to the training and will be saved onto each students individual file. This process aids in identifying individual learning styles and any support services that may be required so that training delivery can be tailored accordingly.
Student/s have the option to complete an auto enrolment form and submit it directly off our enrolment page or download the enrolment document and hand write the information required (please write neatly as the ink can sometimes smudge and make the form difficult to read and processed).
